December Chapter Meeting

Jimmy Harris, owner of Unicoi Outfitters is going to be talking to us about "Vertical Fishing".  Jimmy says  "No, I'm not talking about jigging for trout.  We've all been taught to read the water to determine where we anticipate fish will lie.  The problem is that most of us look at the surface currents only.  We tend to think of the stream horizontally from bank to
bank when in reality there is much more going on from top to bottom that affects
where fish will be holding and because we can't see it as easily, we tend to ignore
those influences.  We'll talk about how to determine where the fish will be, how deep
they are and how to present a fly to them."

If you were at the November meeting you may remember Mike Rossi volunteered to take the office of Treasurer.  We will have a confirmation vote at this meeting to officially induct Mike into his new position.

Dream Trip tickets for sale!

Yes, it that time of year.  We will have our share, 150 tickets, of the 2000 tickets printed by the Council; and yes, you will be able to get your share of those tickets to sell.  This year the Council has added a small prize for each chapter if they actively sell tickets.  If all of the 2000 tickets are sold and a chapter can sell 100 of those 2000 tickets, that chapter will be eligibile for a $500 matching grant for any chapter project.  The other catch to this offer is if all 2000 tickets are not sold, no one gets the grants.  So, if we would like to be eligible for this $500 we need to sell our 150 tickets and more, if possible. Click here to see the Dream Trip flyer and trip rules.

We need everyone to to attend this meeting and take their share of the tickets to sell.

Winston Rod Raffle!

Also, we are still raffling the custom Winston rod from Mack Martin.  We will have the rod on display at the meetings.

Thanks to Jeff Durniak from the GaDNR for making our October Chapter meeting a complete success!

Jeff was kind enough to show us TU'ers a thing 'er two about landing some big fish!  Go to our Links page to read up on some of those techiniques.  And if you find yourself at the gates of Rabun County, just remember what Jeff taught you about gaining entry to some of the best mountain fishing in Georgia.  To learn the secrets, you'll have to come to our next meeting!
